Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Poindo, north of Lhünzhub County, northeastern Lhasa, Tibet. It was named by Li Pu et al. in 1955.
Lithology and Thickness
Volcanics and Conglomerate. A suite of volcanic and clastic rock formation. Lower part is composed of gray-green intermediate-basic volcanic rock and volcanic brecciated clastic rock; Upper part is of gray-green pebbly sandstone, black pebbly conglomerate and black slate. Thickness 435 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unknown: The basal part of the group is cut through by fault, bottom unexposed
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the Lower Permian Wululong Fm
Regional extent
Mainly distributed between Wululong and Majula, north of Lhünzhub County
